Feel free to download and redistribute as you wish. The .fla file will detail exactly how this can be created. I am interested in anyone that can improve on this version. Please email your files to ev [at] master ev dot com
Special thanks to guys over at digital point forums for taking the time to look at the project. Version 2 is looking much better without the line around edge giving it a more 3D effect.

I downloaded the red globe and whenI tried to open the source it told me there was an unexpected file type…do you have the source for flash 8?

Hi Tracy,
I don’t have one handy but I can attempt to convert this one for you.
Try downloading it again – may have been an incomplete download.
Let me know and i’ll try to save it back to flash 8 and email it through to you.
Cheers,

@Tracy @Hilton – Apologies for the delay the flash 8 file is now available in the red globe only. See above.

erm, its doesnt have the ‘globe’ feel. the continents looks flat. Its just scrolling from left to right like a ticker
*just my 2cents*
do you happened to have a different globe where the surface actually looks curve?
overall, a good try. keep it up

Thanks GenXaoS for the feedback.
Unfortunately I don’t have any other globes but will soon be working on a new version. I will definitely keep your comments in mind.
If you’d like to contribute I would love to see what you can come up with. Any other flash / photoshop pros i would love to see the globe improved if you can help let please let me know.
Further to this I would really like to see any sites where people have added the globe. Drop your sites in the comments.
Cheers,
masterev

Hi there,
I love your globes but I can’t figure out how to put into a power point presentation.
Any advice?

This is great, thanks. I’m using one for my classroom. It helps to explain why in some maps Africa is on the left, on others on the right, lol.

hi, admin. i love the revolving globe. even though i am just a ABCD of flash still i would like to suggest that globe doesnot purely look like globe is moving rather it seems like map scrolling in keyhole view. but gr8 work

I’m trying to make my own. How do I keep the maps from showing in the screen when they pass over the globe? Right now I can see a faint shadow as the merge off center. Also how can I get curvature to these images to make them appear more realistic?

Hi guys, just in case somebody is still interested on it, I’ve been working in a project very similar to this called Fix Planet Earth, using 3D rendering in real time and merging multiple globe textures on the fly, take a look on it, I am pretty sure you will find it very interesting, enjoy! http://www.yoambulante.com/en/labs/FixPlanetEarth/

Hi,
I would like to use the gold globe for my site. I am not sure of how to take out the white background. My site background is purple. Is that even possible?
July 19th, 2011 at 6:32 pm
Hi Tan,
Yes you can change the white background to purple. You will need to open the file in flash and simply change the background color to the same as what your website is. (Tip: Use the RGB Code to get the exact color)
Open the file in flash > Select Modify > Document > Change Background Color (insert RGB code) > Hit OK
Then go: File > Publish
Your globe should now have your chosen background color.
